Dimapur: Election Commission of India Secretary Binod Kumar on Friday held review meetings on the ongoing SIR of electoral rolls in Nagalandโ€™s Dimapur and Chumoukedima districts, asking officials to intensify efforts to improve the mapping percentage and ensure that electoral roll data is accurately updated.

Kumar asked the BLOs to carry out thorough verification and mapping at the grassroots level and coordinate closely with the concerned electoral officials.

He also called for the timely completion of the mapping exercise and greater coordination among DEOs, EROs, AEROs and BLOs to achieve the desired progress.

At the meeting in the Dimapur DCโ€™s conference hall, Dimapur DC and DEO Tinojongshi Chang briefed officials through a PowerPoint presentation on the current status and progress of the SIR exercise in the district.

Following the review meeting, Kumar visited two polling stations under the 3-Dimapur-III Assembly constituency to assess the progress of the SIR exercise and its implementation at the field level.

In Chumoukedima, the ECI official urged officials to adhere to the prescribed timeline and complete all SIR-related activities on time.

He also called for solutions to the challenges faced by BLOs and said it was important to ensure that awareness and information reached citizens across the district.

Appreciating the work carried out by the BLOs, Kumar urged them to update their findings in the application within the stipulated time.

He also asked them to discharge their duties diligently and ensure that all eligible voters were represented while maintaining the integrity of the electoral roll.

He said the SIR exercise would have a generational impact and urged all concerned to make greater efforts, regularly review the situation and take timely steps to resolve issues and challenges.
