Guwahati: The flood situation in Assam showed further signs of improvement on Sunday, August 2, even as more than 1.36 lakh people remain affected across five districts, according to the latest flood bulletin issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).
The bulletin said 1,36,203 people remain affected in 335 villages under 21 revenue circles in the districts of Golaghat, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Charaideo, and Dhemaji.
Floodwaters have inundated large tracts of farmland, damaging crops over 15,422 hectares.
The report also recorded three flood-related deaths in Sivasagar, while two people remain missing from the district.
No incidents of urban flooding were reported anywhere in the state.
With the latest fatalities, the overall flood death toll in Assam this year has increased to 85, according to the official bulletin.
The flood situation has improved significantly compared to previous weeks, although authorities continue to monitor affected areas and relief efforts in the remaining flood-hit districts.
