Guwahati: The Election Commission on Tuesday issued the draft electoral roll for Arunachal Pradesh after completing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), with 1,69,459 names excluded following the month-long enumeration exercise.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Pawan Kumar Sain said the state had 8,87,505 registered electors as of June 2, 2026.
During the verification drive, 7,18,046 voters, accounting for 80.91 per cent of the electorate, submitted their enumeration forms before July 14. All the forms received have since been digitised.
Based on the completed verification process, the draft electoral roll now contains the names of 7,18,046 electors.
According to the CEO, 1,69,459 electors could not be verified during the exercise. The figure comprises 25,573 deceased persons, 54,678 voters who were untraceable or absent, 78,980 who had permanently relocated, 4,947 duplicate or previously enrolled electors, and 5,281 others.
Sain clarified that eligible voters whose names were not included during the verification process can still apply for inclusion in the electoral roll.
Claims and objections may be submitted between July 21 and August 20.
The Election Commission has also asked citizens who have attained, or will attain, 18 years of age on or before July 1, 2026, to apply for voter registration using Form 6 along with the prescribed declaration.
To facilitate the process, special enrolment camps and help desks have been opened across Arunachal Pradesh, while volunteers are assisting senior citizens, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
Sain said requests for fresh enrolment, correction of particulars or deletion of names can be submitted either online or through the concerned Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
He added that applicants filing Form 6 or Form 8 must attach a declaration form. Details of voters categorised as absent, shifted, deceased or duplicate have also been uploaded to the CEO’s website for public scrutiny.
The Election Commission is scheduled to publish the final electoral roll on September 22.
A day before the draft roll was released, Sain met representatives of recognised political parties to explain the outcome of the enumeration exercise and share the updated draft electoral roll with them.
