Heroin seized in Dibrugarh
Based on specific intelligence, an anti-narcotics operation was conducted by a Dibrugarh Police team under Tingkhong Police Station on Friday night.

Dibrugarh: In a major anti-narcotics operation, Assam’s Dibrugarh Police seized 1.35 kg of heroin along with cash worth Rs 14,06,600 from a Bolero pickup vehicle and the premises of the accused in Tingkhong on Friday night.

Based on specific intelligence, a Dibrugarh Police team conducted the anti-narcotics operation under Tingkhong Police Station on Friday night.

“During the operation, 1.35 kg of heroin (concealed in 107 soap boxes), along with Rs 14,06,600 in cash, was seized from a Bolero pickup vehicle and the house of the accused,” said a police official.

Sharing the details on X, the Assam Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said, “Another major blow to the drug network in Naharkatia. An anti-narcotics operation by @dibrugarhpolice under Tingkhong Police Station led to the seizure of 1.35 kg of heroin, Rs 14.06 lakh in cash and two vehicles. One accused has been apprehended. HCM Dr. @himantabiswa has reaffirmed that Assam’s war against drugs will continue relentlessly.”

Police have apprehended Gulapi Gogoi, while the main accused, Manoj Gogoi, is absconding.

“We launched the operation after receiving a tip-off about narcotics trafficking. It is one of the biggest anti-narcotics operations conducted by the police,” said a police official.
