Dimapur: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on Wednesday strongly condemned the recent IED blast near the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School in Chumoukedima district, describing the attack as a serious threat to the peace and stability achieved in the Naga homeland.
The explosion, which occurred on July 13, claimed the life of an Assam Rifles personnel and left four others injured.
In a statement, the NSF said the incident appeared to be an attempt to undermine the peaceful environment that Nagas have worked hard to preserve over the years. It stressed that the Naga people remain committed to a future based on peace, dialogue, mutual respect and a dignified political settlement.
The federation warned against any vested interests or external forces attempting to turn the Naga homeland into a zone of violence or use it to advance agendas that have no place in Naga society.
Calling for prompt action, the NSF urged the authorities to conduct a thorough, impartial and time-bound investigation to identify those responsible for the attack, including anyone involved in planning or facilitating it, and ensure they are prosecuted under the law.
The student body also appealed to people across Nagaland to remain united and vigilant, irrespective of tribe, region or political affiliation, to safeguard communal harmony and prevent attempts to disrupt peace.
Reaffirming its commitment to non-violence, the federation said the strength of the Naga people lies in their unity, resilience and belief that lasting peace can only be achieved through dialogue, justice and mutual understanding rather than violence.
The NSF also expressed condolences to the family of the slain Assam Rifles personnel and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the blast.
