Havildar Mohd. Iqbal, who lost his life in the blast

Dimapur: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Tuesday strongly condemned the suspected IED blast near the Assam Rifles Training Centre (ARTC), Shokhuvi, in Chumoukedima district on Monday, which claimed the life of Havildar Mohd. Iqbal of the Assam Rifles and left four other security personnel injured.

Calling it a cowardly and reprehensible act, the NPCC, in a release issued by its communication department, urged the authorities concerned to conduct a thorough, impartial, and time-bound investigation to identify those responsible and bring them to justice in accordance with the law.

It also called upon all citizens to remain calm, maintain communal harmony, and extend full cooperation to the investigating agencies.

Stating that violence has no place in a democratic and peace-loving society, the NPCC said such acts not only endanger innocent lives but also threaten the hard-earned peace and stability that the people of Nagaland have long aspired to preserve.

โ€œAt a time when the state continues to move forward on the path of reconciliation and development, such incidents are deeply unfortunate and deserve unequivocal condemnation,โ€ the release said.

Saying that the people of Nagaland have consistently rejected violence as a means of resolving differences, the NPCC reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of peace, dialogue, democracy, and the rule of law.

Expressing its deepest condolences to the bereaved family of Havildar Iqbal, who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty, it prayed for the speedy and complete recovery of the injured personnel undergoing treatment.
