Taking to X, Indian Railways clarified that the concerned party booked a saloon coach for the event on July 8 by making an advance payment of Rs. 308580/-

“The Saloon Car was booked by IRCTC on 08.07.26.The party made an advance payment of Rs 3,08,580 as commercial booking. The Saloon Car was to be attached in Train No. 12926 Paschim Express on one way journey from New Delhi (NDLS) to Mumbai (BDTS) on 10.07.2026.,” it said

Saloon coach is a luxurious, private rail carriage which comes upgraded with premium facilities

Formerly reserved for high ranking government officials, saloon coaches can now be booked for hosting events like weddings, pujas and other ceremonies even when the train is on the move

To book a saloon coach, go to the official IRCTC FTR Portal and create an account and submit request by selecting "Saloon" or "Coach," enter your origin/destination, dates, and train preferences, and upload your passenger list.

Submit the required registration money (RMSD) , which is Rs. 50,000/- per coach, to receive your unique FTR reference number following which the railways will review operational feasibility and process your booking

The total booking cost reaches approximately Rs. 2 lakh for short tours and can go over Rs. 3 lakh for longer journeys

Every saloon coach has a kitchenette for cooking fresh food while on travel and it is fully equipped with required utensils, hot water sink, refrigerator, RO purified water etc. IRCTC will provide cook and cooking materials if required at additional cost

There are air-conditioned bedrooms in each saloon. One twin bedroom comes with the comfort like a hotel and another with two beds as in AC 1 coupe

Both the bed rooms have attached bathrooms with hot/cold water, shower, water closet etc. and the rooms are equipped with luggage racks, cupboards, writing table with chair and dressing table.

It also features an air-conditioned living-cum-dining room with comfortable sofas, multi-channel television, dining table with chairs for you to relax and for a comfortable dining.
