Uncertainty looms large over the functioning of the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya at Dhula in Darrang district as panic stricken girls refuse to return to school even after four days following attack by miscreants. A section of parents demanded assurance of safety and security of their daughters before their return to the institution.

Altogether 54 girl students studying in the residential girls’ secondary level school under the HRD Ministry left for home on September 21 after unidentified miscreants with their faces covered barged into the hostel premises and tried to break open the door of the main boarding hall. The panic stricken girls then raised hue and cry and the warden of the hostel called up police.

The miscreants fled from the scene before the arrival of the police. They came back again and started pelting stones and hurling abusive language when the police had left the spot.
