Guwahati: B. Borooah College (Autonomous) will introduce the four-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) from the 2026โ27 academic session.
The programme will be offered in collaboration with Government Banikanta College of Teacher Education and will allow students to earn both an undergraduate degree and a teacher education qualification through a single integrated course.
Under the programme, students can enrol in either the B.A. B.Ed. or B.Sc. B.Ed. course. The four-year structure enables students to complete both qualifications simultaneously, reducing the duration compared with pursuing the degrees separately.
Graduates of the programme will be eligible to teach at the higher secondary level. They will also be able to pursue postgraduate courses such as M.A. or M.Sc. in their respective disciplines.
According to the college, the programme will combine subject knowledge, pedagogical training, classroom exposure and professional preparation for teaching careers.
The college has also arranged separate hostels for male and female students enrolled in the programme. The facilities are expected to accommodate students from Assam, other northeastern states and other parts of the country.
Eligible candidates can apply for admission through the Assam Samarth Admission Portal for the 2026โ27 academic session.
Located in central Guwahati, the college is about one kilometre from Guwahati Railway Station, around 10 kilometres from the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) and approximately 23 kilometres from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.
The launch of the ITEP comes as B. Borooah College completes 83 years. The autonomous institution has been awarded an A++ grade with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.62 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), which the college said is the highest accreditation score achieved by a government-sector higher education institution in Northeast India.
