Guwahati: Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU) felicitated its Professor of Practice, Bibhab Kumar Talukdar, at its Azara campus on July 8 after he was elected as a Fellow of the Linnean Society of London (FLS).
The fellowship is one of the recognised international honours in natural history and biological sciences.
Founded in 1788, the Linnean Society of London is the worldโs oldest active biological society. It promotes research and knowledge in natural history, evolution and taxonomy.
Fellowship of the society is awarded to individuals for significant contributions to these fields.
Bibhab Kumar Talukdar is also associated with the Centre for Wildlife and Environmental Studies (CWES) at GCU.
He has worked extensively in wildlife conservation and environmental studies and has contributed to research, education and conservation efforts.
The university congratulated Talukdar on the international recognition and said the achievement reflects his contribution to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
