Guwahati: Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU), Assam, has announced admissions for two new undergraduate programmesโ€”B.Sc. in Mathematics and Data Science and B.Sc. in Economics and Data Science.

According to the university, the programmes are designed to combine subject knowledge with data science skills to prepare students for careers in analytics, finance, technology, research and higher education.

Students from Arts, Science and Commerce streams are eligible to apply for the new courses.

The university has also introduced a lateral entry option into the fourth year of undergraduate programmes for eligible students from other universities.

Students who have completed three years of an undergraduate programme with a minimum of 120 credits and no backlog can apply for admission to the fourth year, subject to credit transfer and university regulations.

According to the university, the initiative is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and aims to provide greater academic flexibility and improved career opportunities for students.
