Imphal: Unknown miscreants set fire to a Bolero pickup truck in broad daylight at Pukhao Ahallup on Wednesday, just hours before a large cache of illegal arms and ammunition, including AK rifles, tube launchers, and explosives, was recovered within the same jurisdiction of Manipur’s Sagolmang Police Station.

A daylight arson incident and a major arms recovery operation were both reported in Imphal East district on the same day.

In the first incident, unidentified individuals stopped a Bolero pickup truck carrying essential goods and electronic items at Pukhao Ahallup.

The vehicle, reportedly en route to Saikul in Kangpokpi district, was intercepted at gunpoint.

The driver was asked to step aside before the assailants set the vehicle on fire. The truck and its cargo were completely destroyed, and the attackers fled the scene.

Sagolmang Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.

In a separate operation in the Sanjenlok area of the same district, Manipur Police recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition.

The operation led to the seizure of one AK rifle, one 9mm pistol, one country-made carbine, two tube launchers (SLR), nineteen No. 36 hand grenades, fifteen rounds of ammunition of various calibres, thirteen .303 cartridges (including seven HD and six blank rounds), ten detonators, and nine magazines.

All recovered weapons and explosives have been secured and handed over to the concerned police station for further legal proceedings.
