Dimapur: The first phase of Census 2027, focusing on house listing operations, began across Nagaland on Wednesday and will continue until July 30.
The exercise commenced with the house listing of Lok Bhavan in Kohima, the official residence of Governor Nand Kishore Yadav. The enumeration was carried out by a team of census officials headed by Kohima Deputy Commissioner and Principal Census Officer B Henok Buchem, following the prescribed guidelines.
In a circular issued on Wednesday, Buchem said trained enumerators and supervisors would visit every household in the district over the next 30 days to collect details on housing conditions, availability of basic amenities and household assets as part of the nationwide census process.
The district administration assured residents that all information gathered during the exercise would be kept strictly confidential and used only for official census purposes.
Appealing for public participation, the Kohima district administration urged citizens, village and ward authorities, as well as civil society organisations, to extend full cooperation to census personnel to ensure the successful completion of an accurate and inclusive enumeration.
Meanwhile, similar house listing operations got underway in Noklak district, where SDO (Civil) and Charge Officer Vikhoto Richa, accompanied by supervisors and enumerators, conducted the exercise at the official residence of Deputy Commissioner P Mono Khiamniungan.
The Deputy Commissioner also called upon residents and all stakeholders in the district to actively support census officials so that the exercise is completed smoothly and accurately.
