Churachandpur, a district celebrated for its national-level achievements in the aspirational blocks of Lamka South and Tuibong, served as the focal point of Monday's deliberations.

Imphal: Accelerating grassroots growth, Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs Deputy Secretary Ganesh Nagaranjan, IFS, chaired a high-level review of the NITI Aayog Aspirational District Programme in Manipur’s Churachandpur.

He emphasized inter-departmental synergy to boost 39 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and inspected specialized healthcare infrastructure in Lamka South.

Churachandpur, a district celebrated for its national-level achievements in the aspirational blocks of Lamka South and Tuibong, served as the focal point of Monday’s deliberations.

Chairing a comprehensive meeting at the DC’s Conference Hall in the Mini Secretariat, Nagaranjan was joined by Churachandpur Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar, IAS, along with district officials and representatives from various line departments.

The extensive discussions focused on 39 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), which are grouped under five core socio-economic themes: Health and Nutrition, Education, Agriculture and Water Resources, Financial Inclusion, and Skill Development.

Infrastructure: Bridging Gaps and Strengthening Coordination

Underscoring the need for timely interventions, the Deputy Secretary issued clear directives to strengthen inter-departmental coordination.

He urged officials to prioritize regular monitoring to ensure transparency, strict adherence to project timelines, and high-quality outcomes.

After hearing local grievances and suggestions, Nagaranjan assured the attendees that genuine concerns would be escalated to the appropriate authorities for swift resolution.

Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar, IAS, reaffirmed the district administration’s commitment to the cause, assuring the visiting dignitary that targeted measures would be taken to closely monitor the KPIs.

To streamline operations, Kumar directed the Project Director of the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) to adopt a more proactive role and highlighted the urgent need for improvements in systematic data entry.

Inspecting Grassroots Infrastructure

Translating policy into tangible progress, the visiting Deputy Secretary later conducted an on-site inspection of a specialized health unit for women and children under construction in Lamka South.

The block has previously garnered national recognition for its stellar performance under the Aspirational District Programme.

Nagaranjan was joined during the site inspection by a team of key officials, ensuring a unified administrative approach to the district’s ongoing development: Krishna Kumar, IAS (Deputy Commissioner); Thangboi Gangte (ADC, Mualnuam & BDO i/c Lamka South); Jangminlen Lupho (SDO/BDO, Tuibong); and Jameson Sehlal Hangsing (PD, DRDA).

With top-tier administrative focus and grassroots monitoring, Churachandpur continues to set a benchmark for developmental excellence in the region.
