Agartala: CPI(M) National General Secretary M.A. Baby and West Bengal state secretary M.D. Salim participated in the two-day-long CPI(M) Tripura state committee meeting, which commenced on Thursday.
Several senior CPI(M) leaders, including former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and his former cabinet colleagues, attended the meeting, where deliberations on the partyโs future strategies and its performance in recent elections are expected to take place.
Speaking on the occasion, CPI(M) National General Secretary M.A. Baby said, โToday, the state committee meeting of the party has commenced here, which will continue for two days. Once the meeting is over, we shall share the decisions that the party has taken.โ
Speaking about the agenda likely to be discussed, CPI(M) state secretary and Politburo member Jitendra Chaudhury said, โEven though it is a routine state committee meeting, senior leaders have arrived to participate. Our national general secretary M.A. Baby and Politburo member from West Bengal M.D. Salim have also come here. Extensive discussions on the partyโs future course of action shall take place during the meeting, and the party leaders will also express their views on the electoral outcomes of the recently held elections in five states. We shall also decide how our party will contribute to the changing political dynamics and in what capacity.โ
According to Chaudhury, issues related to state politics will also come up for discussion. โIn the recently held TTAADC elections, our performance was not satisfactory. Now we have the Village Committee elections ahead of us. All these issues will be analysed and reviewed because, whether it is electoral success or defeat, we do not take it at face value,โ he added.
When asked about the INDIA bloc, he said, โThe INDIA bloc was founded with the larger agenda of fighting and defeating the BJP. What form the political adjustments should take will also be discussed.โ
