Guwahati: Amritsar is set to witness a demonstration led by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), with students, volunteers and supporters expected to gather near the Golden Gate area as part of the organization’s campaign on education related issues.
The planned protest has drawn considerable attention online, prompting questions among residents about whether the event could affect traffic movement in and around the city. Social media posts regarding the gathering have fuelled speculation about possible roadblocks and diversions.
Despite these concerns, authorities have not announced any traffic restrictions linked to the programme. Officials from the traffic police and local administration have indicated that no diversion routes or road closure plans have been put in place at this stage and normal vehicular movement continues across the area.
The demonstration forms part of the CJP’s broader outreach efforts focused on education reforms. The party has been advocating measures aimed at improving transparency in examination processes, addressing student grievances and enhancing institutional accountability.
Organisers say the event is intended to serve as a platform for raising awareness about challenges faced by students and young people across the country. Participants are expected to voice concerns related to academic policies and governance in the education sector.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has appealed to attendees to conduct themselves responsibly and ensure that the programme remains peaceful. According to organizers, volunteers will also assist in maintaining order during the gathering.
While no official advisories have been issued, commuters travelling through the Golden Gate vicinity may experience temporary congestion if turnout is significant. Motorists are therefore encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and monitor updates from local authorities.
Officials are expected to continue assessing the situation and may issue traffic-related announcements if conditions warrant additional measures during the course of the protest.
