A joint team arrested an alleged woman cadre of the proscribed People's Liberation Army, the armed wing of the banned Revolutionary People's Front

Imphal: Security forces and Manipur Police arrested six individuals, including two women, in a series of operations conducted across the state over a 36-hour period, police said on Friday.

In one operation, a joint team arrested an alleged woman cadre of the proscribed People’s Liberation Army (PLA), the armed wing of the banned Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF), from Heibongpokpi Maning Leikai in Imphal West district.

The arrested woman was identified as Wahengbam Khumbongmayum Tombi Chanu alias Laijalembi (26). A mobile phone was seized from her possession, police said.

In a separate operation, security forces apprehended an alleged active cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibanganba), identified as Leimapokpam Lemba Singh alias Chalamba (21), from Nambol Sabal Leikai in Bishnupur district.

Meanwhile, Manipur Police intercepted two vehicles along National Highway-2 in Kangpokpi district and arrested four occupants for allegedly possessing contraband WY tablets.

The arrested individuals were identified as Zamir Khan (45) of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai, Zuma Khan (32) of Kshetri Makha Leikai in Imphal East, a constable with Manipur Police, Hafizuddin (42) of Golapati, a head constable with Manipur Police, and Samim (36) of Lilong Haoreibi Leikai.

Police said 6.1 kg of WY tablets were recovered during the operation. The vehicles seized included a Winger (MN-03B-0283) and a Nissan Magnite (MN-08A-0877).

Further investigation is underway in all the cases, police said.
