A day-long awareness programme for the farmers on Prime Minister’s Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and 1917 iTeams was organized by the District Horticulture Office, South West Garo Hills at Rerapara C&RD block headquarter of Rerapara in South West Garo Hills of Meghalaya recently.
Over 100 farmers from the area including members of the Manchak Integrated Village Society, Dengnakpara participated in the awareness-cum-training programme where training on vegetable cultivation and marketing were also imparted.

District Horticulture Officer of Ampati, N Ch Sangma, while highlighting the objectives of the programme, informed that the farmers from the area and the members of the Society will start Rabi (winter) vegetable cultivation from this year within Rerapara Block, for which the department would provide them assistance through Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) scheme.
The day-long training session was conducted by horticulture development officer of Ampati S A Sangma and deputy project director, Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) C R Marak and was followed by an interaction session during which the officials responded to the queries raised by the farmers.
