Dibrugarh: The Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Services (APSTS) celebrated its Golden Jubilee, marking 50 years of dedicated service to the people of the state.
To commemorate the historic milestone, a three-day programme was organised in Khonsa, the headquarters of Tirap district.
Established in 1975, APSTS began its journey with just five employees, providing a vital transportation link between the remote hilly region of Khonsa and Naharkatia.
Over the past five decades, the organisation has played a crucial role in improving connectivity and facilitating socio-economic development across Arunachal Pradesh.
As part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, a large-scale free eye screening camp was conducted at the Nehru Maidan in Khonsa.
The camp was organised in collaboration with the hospitalโs doctors and healthcare staff and conducted by a team of specialists from Bright Vision NE, Dibrugarh.
More than 500 people from various districts of Arunachal Pradesh benefited from the camp, receiving comprehensive eye examinations along with free medicines and spectacles.
The programme was attended by Transport Department Advisor and MLA Chakat Aboh, Tirap Deputy Commissioner Techu Aran, senior district administration officials, and officers and employees of the Transport Department.
Representatives of Bright Vision NE expressed gratitude to Arunachal Pradesh Transport Minister Ojing Tasing and APSTS General Manager Mito Dirchi for their support in organising the eye care initiative and making the event a success.
