Guwahati: Congress MP and senior leader Randeep Singh Surjewala did not appear before the Crime Branch in Guwahati on Saturday, May 23, despite being called for questioning.

The summons were issued as part of an ongoing probe related to Pawan Khera and statements linked to Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, wife of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Officials said Surjewala was called in after his name reportedly emerged during earlier questioning of Khera.

Pawan Khera is currently facing legal proceedings, including charges such as defamation and forgery, and continues to appear before the Crime Branch under conditions set by the Supreme Court.

The investigation originates from allegations raised by Congress leaders concerning the alleged foreign assets and passport details of Riniki Bhuyan Sharma.

Authorities confirmed that the inquiry is still active, with officials examining all aspects of the allegations.
