Doomdooma: Intense heat, thick dust clouds, and dangerous road ditches have made travel along parts of NH-37 in Upper Assamโ€™s Doomdooma increasingly difficult for commuters and local residents.

The situation is reported to be especially severe on the stretch from Tipuk to the ITBP Camp road and near the Doomdooma new bridge construction site, where damaged surfaces and large potholes are causing traffic disruptions and safety concerns.

With the temperature touching around 35 degrees Celsius on Thursday and the โ€œfeels likeโ€ temperature nearing 40 degrees, the dusty conditions have become even more unbearable for pedestrians, bikers, and roadside residents.

โ€œEvery passing truck throws up huge clouds of dust. People can barely see the road at times, and breathing becomes difficult in this heat,โ€ said a resident of Tipuk.

Commuters alleged that deep ditches and broken sections of the highway are damaging vehicles and increasing the risk of accidents, particularly during the evening hours.

โ€œThe road from Tipuk to the ITBP Camp has turned hazardous. Motorcyclists are struggling to avoid potholes while also dealing with heavy dust,โ€ another commuter said.

Residents have urged the concerned authorities to immediately repair the damaged stretch, control dust pollution through water sprinkling, and improve road safety measures before the monsoon season worsens the condition further.
