Shillong: The Indian Institute of Management Shillong (IIM Shillong) has been awarded the prestigious accreditation by AACSB International (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), widely regarded as the global gold standard in management education.
With this recognition, IIM Shillong joins an elite group of business schools worldwide that have met AACSB’s rigorous standards covering teaching quality, research output, curriculum design, learner success, and societal impact.
AACSB accreditation is earned by less than 6 per cent of business schools globally, making it one of the most respected recognitions in the field of management education.
With this achievement, the institute also joins around 30 AACSB-accredited institutions in India and becomes one of the select Indian Institutes of Management to receive the global accreditation.
Officials said the accreditation reflects IIM Shillong’s continued commitment to academic excellence, sustainability-driven management education, research, innovation, and global engagement.
The peer-review process evaluated the institute across strategic management, faculty quality, research, student learning outcomes, industry engagement, and continuous improvement.
Speaking on the achievement, Director (i/c) Prof. Naliniprava Tripathy said she was delighted to announce the accreditation and described it as a collective achievement of the entire IIM Shillong community.
She added that the institute remains committed to fulfilling its strategic vision and AACSB requirements over the next six years while further strengthening its global reputation.
The accreditation is expected to enhance opportunities for international collaborations, academic partnerships, student and faculty exchange programmes, executive education, global research initiatives, and deeper engagement with industry and policymakers.
Established in 2007, IIM Shillong has emerged as a leading institution promoting values-driven and sustainability-oriented management education.
Located in Meghalaya, the institute continues to focus on developing globally responsible leaders equipped to address contemporary business, societal, and sustainability challenges.
AACSB formally included IIM Shillong in its official global announcement released in 2026.
