Aizawl: Mizo Zirlai Pawl on Friday met officials of the Mizoram Public Service Commission and demanded a thorough inquiry into alleged irregularities in the recently declared Junior Grade of the Mizoram Engineering Service (MES) Examination 2025 results.

According to MZP, the controversy arose after the final result published on May 13 showed eight candidates selected under the Electrical and Electronics Engineering wing, despite only seven posts being available.

The student body expressed serious concern over the issue and stressed the emotional distress and humiliation allegedly faced by the affected candidate.

MZP urged MPSC authorities not to treat the matter lightly and called for immediate steps to protect the credibility and integrity of the stateโ€™s premier recruitment agency.

The organisation also appealed to the MPSC or the Government of Mizoram to constitute an inquiry committee to identify those responsible and investigate the incident thoroughly.

The organisation further welcomed the recent appointment of a new MPSC Secretary but expressed concern that the Commission is still functioning without its full complement of members.

MZP said it had repeatedly urged the government to fill vacant posts in the Commission and renewed its demand for immediate appointments so that the MPSC can function as a full commission.

Meanwhile, the National Studentsโ€™ Union of India (Mizoram) alleged that the MPSC has effectively been making at least one serious mistake every month over the past 16 months.

Speaking to reporters in Aizawl, NSUI President C. Lalhriatpuia said that in the final result of the Junior Grade of MES (Combined Competitive) Examination 2025, released by the MPSC on May 13, a total of 65 candidates were declared successful.

However, in the Electrical & Electronics Engineering wing alone, eight candidates were declared selected for only seven available posts.

He said the Commission later issued a correction notification on Thursday.

The NSUI president further stated that the MPSC had earlier corrected the results of the MCS (Combined Competitive) Examination 2025, which was originally declared on February 2 this year.

He said the occurrence of such major mistakes in both the MCS Combined Examination and MES Examination within a span of just three months was unprecedented in the history of the MPSC.

According to NSUI, the MPSC has issued as many as 15 correction notifications within one year and four months since 2025, reflecting what the organisation described as a lack of sufficient caution and efficiency.
