Manipur grants ?1 crore compensation to constable Soibam Sanjit Singhโ€™s family under SBI-backed Police Salary Package scheme.

Imphal: The Manipur Home Department for the first time, has extended financial assistance of Rs1 crore to the family of late Constable Soibam Sanjit Singh, who lost his life in July 2025 while on duty at Sagoltongba in Imphal West district.

The compensation was provided under the Police Salary Package, a scheme introduced through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Manipur Police and the State Bank of India in October 2024.

The cheque was formally handed over to the constableโ€™s wife in the presence of their son at the office of the Superintendent of Police, Imphal West, on Tuesday, officials confirmed.

Senior officials, including Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) L. Kailun, IPS, attended the event. Kh. Okendra Singh,Regional Manager of SBI Imphal, presented the cheque on behalf of the bank.

The Police Salary Package offers a range of benefits, including personal accident insurance coverage of up to Rs1 crore and Rs10 lakh term life insurance for non-accidental deaths, along with comprehensive banking services for police personnel.

Manipur Police expressed appreciation to SBI for its prompt support and solidarity with the bereaved family. The department also reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families, acknowledging the sacrifices made by officers in the line of duty.
