Twin attacks in Imphal West as suspected militants lob a bomb and plant a grenade in residential areas, no casualties reported.(file image)

Imphal: Suspected militants carried out two attacks on Monday night,throwing a low-intensity bomb and placing a grenade along with gunfire in separate residential areas of Imphal West district under Lamphel Police Station.
Officials stated that militants lobbed a bomb into the courtyard of Khumbongmayum Suresh (47) of Iroisemba Mayai Leikai, Lane No. 4, at 10:30 PM.The wall of Sureshโ€™s house was partially damaged, but no casualties were reported.
In a separate incident that same night, unidentified miscreants placed a hand grenade along with a demand letter at the gate of Dr. Salam Arvind in Langjing Achouba, under the same police station.
A letter described as a “last warning” was found with the explosive.The armed men also fired two rounds during the attacks.
No injuries were reported in either incident.

Officials further reported that teams from the Manipur Police Bomb Disposal Squad and forensic experts rushed to the spots and safely disposed of the explosives.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks. Police have registered cases under relevant sections of the law and launched an investigation.
Meanwhile,the locals condemned the bomb attack, questioning why the crowded area was targeted, and appealed to all concerned for restraint in the future to prevent such incidents in populated areas, which can harm civilians.
