Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Monday met outgoing NITI Aayog member V.K. Paul in New Delhi and discussed a range of issues related to the state’s development priorities and future collaboration.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude for NITI Aayog’s continued support to Mizoram and highlighted progress in sectors such as horticulture and tourism.
Lalduhoma said the recognition of Mizoram as the “Ginger Capital of India” had started yielding positive results for the state’s horticulture sector.
He also highlighted Mizoram’s achievements in literacy, cleanliness and governance, stating that the state had emerged as the first fully literate state in the country and remained among the cleanest and least corrupt states.
The Chief Minister further said Mizoram continued to remain one of the most peaceful states in the country and noted that the government had recently reached a peace agreement with the last remaining armed group.
Paul praised the Mizoram government for maintaining effective coordination with NITI Aayog and appreciated the leadership of the Chief Minister.
According to the statement, the outgoing NITI Aayog member said the partnership between the state government and the policy think tank had remained productive and noted that Mizoram was widely recognised by other states for its peaceful environment.
State Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar, who was also present at the meeting, discussed proposed joint initiatives, including a Tourism Conclave to be organised in collaboration with NITI Aayog.
Officials said a pre-conclave meeting would be held in New Delhi later this month to finalise plans for the event.
During the discussions, Paul and other NITI Aayog officials also outlined support measures for Mizoram, including strengthening the state’s tourism policy, facilitating training programmes through the Institute of Hotel Management–Ashok (IHM-A), and helping attract investment in the tourism sector.
