Pasighat:ย Theย department of Sericulture under the Directorate of Textile and Handicraft conducted trainings on Beekeeping and promotion of sericulture at Sericulture farm, Sille under Ruksin Sub-Division here in East Siang District recently in which more than 40 farmers took active participation.

Registered farmers engaged in beekeeping and sericulture activities, along with interested individuals from nearby villages such as Remi, Tekang, Ruksin, Sika Tode and Sika Bamin, actively participated in the programme to gain first-hand knowledge on rearing bees and silkworms for income generation.

Officials and experts provided hands-on training to the farmers on beekeeping practices, cultivation of sericulture plants, silkworm rearing and silk production, Talong Tadeng, Zonal Officer (Zone-II), said.

Talking to the farmers, Deputy Director of Sericulture, Dagmo Riba said that the selected farmers will be further trained on silkworm and bee rearing by providing support from the government on providing equipment and plantations of silkworm plants.

Both Talong Tadeng and Dagmo Riba urged the farmers to use the provided technological knowledge on pre-cocoon (sericulture) and post-cocoon (silk processing) part including bee keeping, to generate income and employment.
