Imphal: Indian paramilitary forces in Manipur stationed along the Indo-Myanmar border are facing severe scrutiny following accusations that they supplied uniforms to Kuki militant groups.
These allegations follow a deadly ambush on Friday, April 24, 2026, near Mullam village in Ukhrul, which resulted in the death of a 29-year-old Naga Village Guard member.
The Khanuithot-Khon (Voice of the Naga Youth), in a statement based on ground reports, accused the Assam Rifles of assisting, shielding, and transporting Kuki narco-terrorists, dressed in military uniforms, to launch an attack on Naga village volunteer positions near Mullam village in Ukhrul district.
The Naga youth body alleged that when Naga volunteers exposed the real identity of the militants, who were wearing fake uniforms, retaliatory gunfire ensued, killing two militants dressed in Indian Army uniforms.
The Voice of the Naga Youth has called for a thorough and impartial investigation to establish the full facts surrounding the alleged proxy conflict involving law enforcement personnel in collusion with Kuki militants.
Strongly condemning the incident, the Naga body described it as โstate-sponsored terrorismโ and demanded clarification on how Kuki militants obtained Indian Army uniforms and were transported to the frontline areas.
The group also called for the identification and prosecution of the responsible commanding officers.
Furthermore, the Naga body demanded the immediate revocation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement signed between the Union government and Kuki groups, claiming it has become a โlicense for violence against Naga civilians under the guise of peace.โ
