Imphal: The Foothills Naga Coordination Committee (FNCC) has resumed its indefinite bandh across foothill Naga areas in Manipur from midnight of April 23, citing delays in the implementation of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed with the state government last year.

The renewed blockade comes amid rising tensions and ongoing protests by various ethnic groups over security concerns and safety issues in different parts of the state.

Announcing the decision, the FNCC said the bandh would restrict movement and economic activities in the affected areas until further notice. It urged the government to take immediate steps to fulfil its commitments, warning that continued delays would inconvenience the public.

The committee said the agitation was triggered by the โ€œcontinued failureโ€ of the state government to implement the MoA signed on August 8, 2025, which addressed issues related to security, illegal activities and infrastructure in Naga-inhabited regions.

The FNCC had earlier suspended its agitation following talks facilitated by Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho. As part of the understanding, it was agreed that designated camps of Kuki militant groups under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) pact would not be established or allowed to function in or near Naga-inhabited areas.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh appealed to the public to refrain from activities that could disrupt development works or deepen divisions among communities. Speaking at a public function in Thoubal district, he emphasised the need for maintaining peace and harmony.

The FNCC has also called on residents to cooperate in ensuring that the bandh remains peaceful and disciplined.
