Imphal: Two persons were arrested by security forces on Wednesday, April 15, after a vehicle was stopped in the Rengkai area of Manipurโ€™s Churachandpur district in connection with an earlier firing incident near Sielmat bridge.

The individuals have been identified as Ngamkhomang Haokip, aged 36, from S. Moldung, and Letminthang Haokip, aged 38, a resident of Lhangnom village, both located in Churachandpur district.

Officials said the car they were travelling in was halted during an operation carried out by security personnel in Rengkai.

During checking, three mobile phones were recovered from the vehicle, which has also been seized.

Initial findings suggest that the two were linked to a past shooting incident at Sielmat bridge, where a member of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) was injured after being hit by a bullet.

Authorities confirmed that the investigation into the case is still in progress.
