Yumnam Khemchand Singh Jiribam district visit
The Chief Minister reiterated the governmentโ€™s commitment to restoring peace, strengthening communal harmony and promoting inclusive and sustainable development while safeguarding indigenous culture.

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Saturday announced that the state Government would frame a comprehensive transfer policy for medical staff after reviewing healthcare services during his visit to Jiribam district.

The announcement followed an inspection of Jiri District Hospital at Ningshingkhul, where the Chief Minister assessed infrastructure, service delivery and staffing. While noting that services were largely satisfactory, he flagged a shortage of manpower and said measures would be taken to address the issue. He also indicated that doctorsโ€™ quarters would be upgraded to improve working conditions.

Earlier, Singh visited the Leingangpokpi police outpost, where he reviewed the prevailing law and order situation and developmental needs in the district. He was accompanied by state BJP president A. Sharda Devi and several BJP MLAs.

In a statement, the Chief Minister reiterated the governmentโ€™s commitment to restoring peace, strengthening communal harmony and promoting inclusive and sustainable development while safeguarding indigenous culture.

Saturdayโ€™s visit marked his first road journey to the region since ethnic violence escalated in Manipur. His three-day tour comes shortly after his meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, during which the situation in the state was reviewed.

During the visit, Singh is scheduled to interact with community leaders from both Kuki-Hmar and Meitei groups, as well as internally displaced persons (IDP)affected by the unrest.

Singh, who assumed office as Chief Minister on February 4, 2026, had earlier undertaken his maiden visit to the conflict-affected Jiribam district on February 11 following the end of Presidentโ€™s Rule in the state.
