Parakala Prabhakar extends support to Kunki Chowdhury
Endorsing Chowdhury, Prabhakar described her as a “bright, confident, and well-educated young leader” with both national and international exposure.

Guwahati: Political economist and author Parakala Prabhakar has extended his support to Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP) candidate Kunki Chowdhury for the 36 Guwahati Central constituency, urging voters to back her in the upcoming elections.

Addressing voters through a video message, Prabhakar said the elections in Guwahati Central are not just locally significant but carry wider national implications. “These elections are not only crucial for you in Guwahati Central, but they will also have long-term implications for our entire country,” he said.

Highlighting the interconnected nature of India’s political landscape, he noted that electoral choices in Assam would resonate far beyond the state, including in regions like Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He cautioned that the country’s founding ideals — secularism, tolerance, democracy, social justice, equality, and fraternity are under threat and must be protected through mindful voting.

“We must exercise our vote carefully to protect our republic and defeat intolerance and religious fanaticism,” he said.

Endorsing Chowdhury, Prabhakar described her as a “bright, confident, and well-educated young leader” with both national and international exposure. He added that she possesses the maturity, fresh ideas, and capability required to effectively represent the people.

“Such individuals should be representing the people in the Assembly,” he said, expressing confidence in her ability to transform the constituency and respond to local aspirations.

Framing the election as both developmental and ideological, Prabhakar urged voters to support Chowdhury, stating that a vote for her would not only bring development but also safeguard constitutional values and ensure justice for Assamese cultural icon Zubeen Garg.

“A vote for Kunki is a vote for development, for constitutional values, and above all, for justice,” he concluded.
