As part of the implementation of the BJP-led NDA Government’s Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), the Executive Member (EM), KAAC, Kache Rongpipi on Sunday formally distributed domestic gas connection in the Rongagora Government ME School premises in Karbi Anglong district.
Along with the gas connection under the PMUY, the beneficiaries also received cylinders and stoves.
In the formal distribution ceremony, only 25 beneficiaries were presented the gas connection. However, under the scheme, overall 150 beneficiaries will get the benefit.
On the occasion, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) EM Rongpipi said, “Keeping in view the problems being faced by the women folk in cooking the Government has implemented the scheme of distribution of domestic gas connection.”
She appealed to the beneficiaries not to sell the gas cylinders to others.
“In Socheng Dhenta (Member of Autonomous Council constituency), there are a lot of people who do not have land documents and I appeal to them to get it. The Eco Sensitive Zone around Kaziranga National Park is only up to 10 km. There will be eviction only to prevent illegal sand mining and stone quarries in the park area. There is no reason to worry, the land belongs to KAAC and KAAC will not give land to anyone else,” she added.
She also informed the gathering about various other Government schemes meant for BPL families, Self Help Groups (SHGs) and individuals.
Sports goods, mosquito nets and baskets were also distributed among the needy families.
The people of the area submitted memorandum for repair of the Longkoi Tisso-Jagadamba PWD road, construct an RCC bridge over river Deopani, a Higher Secondary School in the area and strengthening of Rongagora LAMPS.
Opposition party workers from the Congress and Hills State Demand Committee (HSDC) joined the BJP on the occasion.
The meeting was also attended by chairman, Socheng Dhenta, VDC, Bronson Terang, president, BJP, Rongmongve Mondal Committee, Sem Engleng, chairman, BLCC, Kamsing Bey and others.
