Due to incessant raining, one person died due to drowning in flash floods in Borlangpher under Borlangpher Police Station in Karbi Anglong district on Tuesday night.

According to information, a total of 50 houses and several livestock have been submerged by flood waters of river Borlangpher since Tuesday night.

The flood waters of river Borlangpher have submerged its banks quickly with massive flow of rain waters from the hills.

A wooden bridge across river Borlangpher near Borlangpher market has also been washed away by the flood waters, sources said.

“At least 50 houses have been submerged by flood waters,” added sources.

The person, who died due to flood, has been identified as Sankdar Das.

Das was staying in a paddy field when he was swept away.

As he stayed alone the locals did not know where his relatives are and where he hailed from.

The body was brought to Diphu Civil Hospital for post-mortem.
