Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said the state government will soon release the findings of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing alleged links between Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi and Pakistan.
He said the findings have serious national security implications. Speaking to reporters, Sarma said the government is preparing a detailed PowerPoint presentation outlining the SIT’s findings, which will be made public in the coming days.
He said the material reviewed so far was alarming and added that national media outlets from outside Assam would also be invited when the report is disclosed.
The Chief Minister said January 31 was initially considered for releasing the report, but the timeline may change slightly due to the Union Budget presentation on February 1.
Sarma also criticised Gogoi’s recent political meetings, alleging they were being used as a political strategy that threatened Assam’s cultural, religious, and social fabric.
He claimed that defeating the Congress party was necessary to ensure the safety of both the state and the country.
Targeting senior Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel, who is overseeing the party’s preparations for the Assam Assembly elections, Sarma accused him of being linked to several controversies, including alleged financial irregularities related to the Mahadev app and other cases.
