Aizawl: Mizoram Milk Producers Cooperative Union Limited (MULCO), a state government undertaking, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to strengthen milk production and dairy processing in the State, officials said on Friday.

The agreement, aimed at providing a structured and technology-driven boost to the dairy sector, was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Lalduhoma and Cooperation Minister PC Vanlalruata on Thursday.

Cooperation Secretary Udit Rai Prakash signed on behalf of the State, while NDDB was represented by Executive Director S. Rajeev and MULCO by Managing Director Lalhmunliani.

The MoU aligns Mizoramโ€™s dairy development efforts with the Ministry of Cooperationโ€™s flagship programme, White Revolution 2.0.

Under the agreement, NDDB will prepare a comprehensive dairy development plan for the State and provide technical support, while MULCO will be responsible for implementing the plan.

Speaking at the signing, the Chief Minister said the agreement would enhance milk production and improve the livelihoods and income of livestock farmers. โ€œBy integrating modern technology and improved practices, the Stateโ€™s potential can be harnessed more productively,โ€ he added. He also proposed setting up a project monitoring unit to ensure effective implementation.

According to the Bureau of Animal Husbandry and Statistics (BAHS) 2024โ€“25, Mizoram recorded the lowest daily milk production in the Northeast during 2024โ€“25, at 64.4 thousand kilograms per day.
