Manipur insurgent arrest
Officials reported on Wednesday that attempts by some youths heading for arms training with the insurgents were thwarted by the timely action of the security forces.

Imphal: A joint team of the central security forces and Manipur police busted a fresh recruitment module of insurgents with the arrest of three alleged underground cadres, including a woman, in Imphal West district on Tuesday.

Officials reported on Wednesday that attempts by some youths heading for arms training with the insurgents were thwarted by the timely action of the security forces.

The joint team arrested three insurgent cadres of the proscribed Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup – Socialist Revolutionary Party (KYKL-SOREPA) during separate operations in Imphal West district.

According to the reports, apart from attempting to recruit youths, the arrestees were also involved in extortion in the valley districts and provided logistic support to their organisation.

The arrestees include Keithelakpam Telheiba Mangang, also known as Thoiba or Lamyanba, aged 23, a resident of Kwakeithel Heinou Khongnembi, Imphal West district. He was arrested from Kangabam Leikai, Imphal.

Konthoujam Gooddy Meitei, also known as Phirepa, aged 23, from Bishnupur Ward No. 10, Joypur Khunou, Bishnupur district, was arrested from Kwakeithel Thokchom Leikai, Imphal.

Laishram Ichan Devi, also known as Sangita, aged 30, of Wabagai Terapishak, Kakching district, a/p Kwakeithel Akham Leikai, was arrested from Kwakeithel Bazar, Imphal.

The authorities seized three mobile phones, four SIM cards, a sum of Rs. 6,000, and a Yamaha bike from the arrestees.

The arrested cadres and the seized items have been handed over to the relevant police station for further legal proceedings.
