On the same day, forces also recovered a single-barrel rifle from the Siden and Changpikot village areas in Churachandpur district.

Imphal: Indian security forces seized a large cache of military-grade weapons, explosives and ammunition during anti-militancy operations in Manipur’s Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts over the past 48 hours, officials said on Sunday.

Joint operations involving the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and state police targeted insurgent hideouts to dismantle militant networks and restore law and order.

In Kangpokpi district, security personnel recovered a substantial arsenal from the vicinity of Awlmun village under Kangchup Police Station on January 10, 2026. Seized items included:

  • 1 AK-47 rifle
  • 1 single-barrel rifle
  • 4 single-barrel bolt-action rifles
  • 1 double-barrel bolt-action rifle
  • 2 pull mechanism rifles
  • 4 improvised mortars
  • 2 No. 36 hand grenades
  • 38 live rounds of ammunition of various calibres
  • 2 empty cartridges of single-barrel rifles
  • 1 hand-held radio set
  • 1 AK-47 magazine
  • 2 kg of pallet shots (fertiliser)
  • 4 pairs of combat trousers
  • 2 combat T-shirts
  • 2 pairs of jungle shoes

In a separate operation in Churachandpur districtโ€™s Thangjing foothills under Churachandpur Police Station, security forces recovered:

  • 1 locally made rocket filled with explosives
  • 5 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), weighing around 4 kg in total
  • 3 pompi shells, each weighing 3 kg
  • 23 single-barrel rounds
  • 2 empty cases of various firearms

On the same day, forces also recovered a single-barrel rifle from the Siden and Changpikot village areas in Churachandpur district.

Officials said all weapons and explosives were seized under the Arms Act, 1959, and have been transferred to the relevant police stations for further legal proceedings.
