The hunger strike highlights the stakeholdersโ€™ frustration over the lack of accountability despite peaceful protests, memoranda, inquiries, and repeated appeals.

Tezpur: Stakeholders of Tezpur University, including the Tezpur University Teachersโ€™ Association (TUTA), Tezpur University Non-Teaching Employeesโ€™ Association (TUNTEA), and the student community, began a 24-hour hunger strike from 12:00 am to 11:59 pm on December 29.

The protest marks 100 days of continuous struggle over unresolved issues at the university.

The hunger strike highlights the stakeholdersโ€™ frustration over the lack of accountability despite peaceful protests, memoranda, inquiries, and repeated appeals.

The university community says the ongoing situation reflects a system more focused on protecting individuals in power than on maintaining institutional integrity and safeguarding student interests.

The stakeholders criticized the continued impunity of absentee Vice-Chancellor Shambhu Nath Singh, citing his prolonged absence and the inaction of authorities, which they say has led to administrative paralysis and eroded public trust.

Through the hunger strike, the university fraternity aims to draw national attention to what they describe as a systemic governance failure, where truth is delayed, justice is deferred, and democratic voices struggle to be heard.

They stated that the issue extends beyond the university, raising concerns about the credibility of public institutions and the moral conscience of the governing system.

The protesters affirmed that their movement remains steadfast and that their demand for justice will not diminish over time or fatigue
