ONGC Super 30, Sivasagar has achieved super success in 2017-18 academic year, with seven students selected for study in prestigious Indian Institute of Technologies (IITs).

Out of the 30 students, 7 students were selected for admission in IITs, 6 students in NIT Silchar, 6 students in AEC, Guwahati, 1 in IIIT Gwalior, 1 in IIEST Kolkata, 1 in JEC, 3 students in Tezpur University and others in various prestigious universities and colleges.

The seven students selected for IITs are Avijit Kr Das (IIT Bhubaneswar), Babul Pegu (IIT Kharagpur), Biplob Das (IIT Jodhpur), Hemanga Sonowal (IIT Kanpur), Rajesh Sarkar (IIT Guwahati), Sondip Kumar Roy (IIT Guwahati) and Trinayan Das (IIT Guwahati).

ONGC Super 30 – a residential coaching programme at Sivasagar – was instituted in 2013 in association with CSRL, New Delhi, under which, each year, 30 academically brilliant students from economically underprivileged families are selected and provided 11 months free residential coaching for IIT-JEE & other Engineering Entrance Examinations. Over the years a number of students got selected in IITs and other reputed engineering/technology institutes.

Through session 2017-18, ONGC Super 30, Sivasagar executed the 4th batch of Super 30 students.

The students are selected from various schools through comprehensive selection test comprising of written test and interview. The academic session 2017-18 started from July 2017 and continued till the exam of JEE Advance.

At the residential premises of ‘ONGC Super 30’, the students are provided free residential stay, food, medical care, coaching & guidance, designed to solicit undivided attention from the students for cracking the JEE. Academic support is provided through classroom teaching by experienced faculty, regular tests & mock tests and performance evaluation of the students.

SD Maske, ED-Asset Manager, ONGC Assam Asset congratulating the students said that as a responsible corporate citizen, it’s a humble initiative of ONGC to support the bright and underprivileged students from the economically weak strata of the society to crack the prestigious entrance exam IIT-JEE.

Maske mentioned that the result of ONGC Super 30 gives a clear indication that students from Assam, especially from ONGC, Assam Asset’s operational areas, have immense potential to compete with the best in the country. It is important to provide the meritorious students right platform, guidance and encouragement.

All the students expressed their heartfelt gratitude to ONGC for such an initiative, conveying that it is for ONGC that they have achieved success and able to dream big today.
