Digboi: Day 3 of the 25th IndianOil SERVO Masters 2025 in Assam’s Digboi saw cricketer and PGTI President Kapil Dev, along with the Chairman of Indian Oil, attend the closing and prize distribution ceremony scheduled for Friday’s final round.
Their attendance marked the silver jubilee edition of Northeast India’s oldest professional golf tournament and highlighted its national significance.
At Digboi Golf Links, Kapil Dev, who had promised during an online interaction with Digboi media in 2024 that he would return for this edition, fulfilled that commitment.
His arrival, alongside IndianOil’s leadership, was noted by players, officials, and spectators.
On the course, PGTI Ranking leader Yuvraj Sandhu recorded a six-under 66, extending his lead to six shots and moving closer to a third Digboi title.
The 28-year-old Chandigarh golfer stands at 16-under 200 (65-69-66), approaching his potential fifth PGTI title of the season.
In second place is Viraj Madappa at 10-under 206, with a round that included a chip-in eagle on the 11th. Sri Lankan golfer N Thangaraja (67) and former Digboi champion Veer Ahlawat (69) share third place at nine-under 207.
Local golfer Deven Bhumij, the only Digboi participant to cut, carded a 73 to be tied 42nd at four-over 220.
Sandhu’s bogey-free round included 17 greens in regulation. “My ball-striking and putting were solid today,” Sandhu said. “I didn’t drop a shot, and that gives me confidence heading into the final round. I hold the record here at 23-under and would like to improve it.”
Celebrating its 25th year, the IndianOil SERVO Masters remains the longest-running tournament on the Indian professional circuit. This year’s Rs 1 crore prize purse attracted a field from across India and abroad.
Elsewhere on the leaderboard, Saptak Talwar (72) slipped to tied fifth at eight-under 208, alongside Shivendra Singh Sisodia (70). Defending champion Jamal Hossain is tied eighth at five-under 211.
Ahead of Friday’s final round, Yuvraj Sandhu leads, while the attendance of Kapil Dev and the IndianOil Chairman marks the silver jubilee edition of the tournament.
