In a tragic incident, a forest guard was killed by wild elephants at the sixth addition of Kaziranga National Park on Monday evening.
The casual staff, Ganesh Newar of Gorpal forest camp met with an encounter with a herd of wild elephants while he was on regular patrolling in the evening with a team of forest guards.
While the other guards managed to escape the fury of the herd of wild elephants, Ganesh Newar fell prey to the herd of jumbos.
He was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The deceased was 54 years old and son of late Tath Bahadur Newar.
He hailed from Niz Gorpal village of Sootea in Biswanath district of Assam.
