Navanita Deka has been selected to represent Darrang in the national youth declamation contest. She is from Paschim Mangaldai Block.
The contest has been organized by the Darrang chapter of Nehru Yuva Kendra under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The contest was held at the Paschim Mangaldai Kristi Sangha auditorium in Darrang.
The topic of the contest was Patriotism and Nation Building and was organized for rural youths. The contest was held in celebration of the upcoming Republic Day. Farizul Hussain of Dalgaon, Sialmari Block was the first runner up whereas Sehnaj Sabnam Sultana of Sipajhar was the second runner up at the contest.
Winner Navanita Deka was selected to represent the district at the State level followed by the National competition next month.
The contest winners were given cash prizes and certificates. Guests including associate professor of Mangaldai college Harimon Deka, journalist Mayukh Goswami and young social activist Ripunjay Saikia were present during the occassion.
Pramathesh Chakraborty in charge of Nehru Yuva Kendra Darrang, gave a brief account of the rules and regulations of the contest before it started. In the last two years Debashree Goswami and Lovleena Saharia of Darrang emerged as the state winners to represent in the national level respectively.
