International woman footballer Anju Tamang from Sikkim has been selected in Senior Women’s Indian National football team to represent India in the upcoming COTIF CUP 2018 to be held from July 26 to August 9 in Valencia, Spain. She is presently in the national coaching camp at LNIPE, Gwalior which concluded on Tuesday.

Another Sikkimese international, Karishma Rai is presently in Johannesburg, South Africa playing for India in BRICS Games.

Sikkim Football Association president, Menla Ethenpa on Tuesday said that while talking over the phone from Gwalior Anju expressed her immense happiness over her selection to India team. She thanked Sikkim Football Association for giving her the exposure.

Ethenpa congratulated her on her selection and expressed best wishes to make Sikkim and the country proud with her full efforts in the tournament. He also urged other Sikkimese women footballers to follow Anju and Karishma as their inspiration and to play football more seriously.
