Normal life in Mangaldai town was thrown out of gear following torrential showers and artificial flood on Friday.

Several areas of the town were submerged by flash flood. Residents of ward no -2 and ward no-5 were the worst sufferers as flood waters submerged all residential areas. Besides, premises of many government offices including the deputy commissioner’s office remained submerged by rain waters for many hours. This had affected the normal functioning of the offices.

The municipality staffs were engaged to clear the clogged drains. But they had a tough time to clear the drains. This happens to be a very common sight in the town over the last couple of days due to the lack of proper permanent drainage system.

Unabated constructions of houses across the town are also responsible for this artificial water logging problem.
