Guwahati: The first ‘Guwahati Asian Film Festival (GAFF)’ is scheduled to be held in February 2025 that will showcase a number of notable movies from the region.
The three-day festival between February 7 and 9 marks a significant milestone in the celebration of Asian and Northeast Indian films.
Director (Hon) of GAFF Monita Borgohain said the festival promises to be a landmark event that would bring together the best of Asian films while highlighting the unique voices from the Northeast.
“The festival promises to be a landmark event bringing together the best of Asian films while shining a spotlight on the unique voices from Northeast India,” she said.
Borgohain exuded confidence the fest will become a not to be missed part of Assam’s cultural calendar. She appealed to all to be a part of this historic moment in celebration of films.

GAFF will include a competitive section specifically for the films from the Northeastern region. It will offer cash awards across various categories in a bid to recognise the exceptional achievements in filmmaking from the Northeast.
Besides the competitive section, there will also be a non-competition section that will showcase some selected Asian and Indian films that will celebrate the exceptional cinematic brilliance. The submission of films is officially open from Thursday (September 5, 2024).
GAFF’s advisory board boasts several distinguished members from the film fraternity.
Some of the notable members of GAFF are renowned film critic and festival advisor Srinivasa Santhanam, national award winning film critic and filmmaker Utpal Borpujari, and prominent film critic, music journalist and editor Dalton Christopher.
