Guwahati: A constable of the Assam Police Radio Organisation (APRO) was detained on Monday for his suspected role in a gas cylinder black-marketing operation.
Diganta Tamuli, currently posted in Jonai, Assam, was arrested from his residence in Nagakhelia, Dhemaji, following a raid by Dhemaji police.

The raid yielded a seizure of 86 gas cylinders from Tamuli’s home, leading to allegations of his involvement in the smuggling operation.

It was alleged that Tamuli, in collusion with a local gas agency, was selling cooking gas cylinders at exorbitant prices, exploiting consumers.
Consequent to his arrest, Tamuli was suspended from his duties, and a thorough investigation has been initiated to uncover the extent of his involvement in the smuggling racket.
