Nagaland Governor P B Acharya urged government officials to ensure that various flagship schemes should benefit the targeted sections of the society.

He was addressing the Dimapur district officials on Monday to review the performances of different departments at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner in Dimapur.

The Governor asserted that these schemes were aimed for uplift of the poor and underprivileged sections.

Acharya also appealed to the officials to point out or give suggestions to the government for better and effective implementation of different programmes.

He further called on them to work towards uplifting and strengthening the most neglected and poor people.

Briefing about the law and order situation in the district, Commissioner of police, Limasunep Jamir apprised the Governor that the situation in Dimapur was by and large peaceful.

He also gave a brief presentation of crime cases registered and their status.

Expressing concern over the deplorable results of government schools, Acharya asked officials of the Education Department to find out the reasons behind the poor performance.

Meanwhile, calling for empowering the un-empowered persons, Acharya described Nagaland as a beautiful State blessed with abundant natural resources.

He, therefore, called upon the people for identifying avenues to make Nagaland an economically-independent State.

He advised all officials to be nodal agents of different flagship schemes and encouraged them to boldly stand up against corruption.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Sushil Kumar Patel.
