A special awareness programme on yoga organized by Bureau of Outreach Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Dibrugarh in association with Swami Shivananda Yogjyoti Mahavidyalaya  was held at the Lakhika Samaroh auditorium at Chowkidingee in Assam’s Dibrugarh district on Thursday.

In the formal ceremony, Rekha Sharma Baruah, secretary of Swami Shivananda Yogjyoti Mahavidyalaya presided the session while other guests present were Dalimee Saikia, a yoga-lover and elder sister of Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Jayashree Baruah, town moujadar, Surajit Singh, social worker of Dibrugarh, Sonu Roy, Director of Mahavidyalaya, Utpal Baruah of Shivananda Yoga Studio and others.

As designated speaker, Simanta Baruah, social worker of Dibrugarh in his address highlighted the benefits of yoga and its present aspects, while Pranab Kumar Nath, field outreach bureau officer of Dibrugarh in his welcome address urged the audience to adopt yoga in everybody’s daily life for physical, mental, spiritual and social up gradation

The programme also included yoga demonstration, felicitation of yoga teachers, guru vandana, violin playing, borgeet presentation and yoga competition in four groups.
