Guwahati: Hundreds of people, primarily tribal women, took to the streets of Senapati, Manipur demanding swift action in the molestation case of a female student at a college.

The protest, organized by the Joint Action Committee Against Molestation (JACAM), erupted on National Highway 102 connecting Imphal to Dimapur.

Protesters condemned the actions of the middle-aged perpetrator, identified as Kamba Mosses of Maram Khullen village.

JACAM staged a lightning blockade on the highway to express their outrage and demand the arrest of the accused.

The blockade was called off upon learning of Mosses’ apprehension by police.

Police have confirmed the arrest and registered a case with the Women’s Police Station. 

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
